Lamb Burgers with Yogurt-Cucumber Sauce

This is an amazing Mediterranean twist on your traditional grilled burgers perfectly paired with the yogurt-cucumber sauce and roasted peppers. Yum!

Ingredients

  • For burgers
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground lamb
  • 1 whole egg
  • 2 2/3 ounces plain bread crumbs (1/3 cup)
  • 2 2/3 ounces cup crumbled feta cheese (1/3 cup)
  • 2 ounces chopped black olives
  • 2 ounces chopped sun-dried tomatoes (packed in oil)
  • 2 tablespoons freshly chopped mint
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 4 bread rolls, split
  • For roasted peppers
  • 2 red bell peppers, cut in half and seeded
  • olive oil
  • For sauce
  • 8 ounces The Greek GodsĀ® Traditional Plain Greek-Style Yogurt
  • 4 ounces finely chopped (seeded) cucumber
  • 1 tablespoon freshly chopped mint
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest

Directions

  1. For burgers
  2. Heat barbecue or stove top grill pan to medium-high heat.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine all burger ingredients.
  4. Mix well and form into 4 patties.
  5. Chill for 10 minutes.
  6. Brush lamb burgers with olive oil; grill for 3 to 4 minutes per side.
  7. For roasted peppers
  8. Brush red pepper with olive oil
  9. Grill for 1 minute per side.
  10. For sauce
  11. Stir together sauce ingredients and allow to sit at room temperature for 10 minutes
  12. Serve on top of burgers along with grilled pepper.
